About the Event

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: 6th Assessment Report

Hosted by Elliot

Genre: Climate Change: Report

Description:

The UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) came out with its 6th Assessment Report (full report) in August and the world collectively gasped. The report is simply the most up-to-date analysis of the science behind climate change, so why has it proven so controversial? The report shows the boldest consensus of the global scientific community, with nonpartisan scientists from 195 countries (including those with weak or counterproductive stances on climate change) proclaiming that not only is climate change exacerbated by human activity, but that we have set in motion an inevitable 1.5 degrees of warming from an industrial era baseline. The report also notes, however, that if humanity were to take immediate and landscape-scale action, that we can stave off the worst effects of climate change.

Intent of Session:

Join Elliot David from Carbonbase in a discussion about the A6 Report and how we as individuals and members of a collective can fight climate change and climate anxiety around the challenge before us. A new #WarOnClimateChange is needed, join us on September 19th! You can download the full report OR click here is a summary of it for those who dont have time to read the whole thing before the session!
