About the Event

Every year Ryan Holiday writes an article on his birthday, distilling one insight for every year. This year's theme: 34 Mistakes. It's a ~15 minute read. Holiday's writing packs a punch and raises questions about what and how we learn as we mature, and the value of sharing wisdom.

Ryan Holiday is a writer, media strategist, and one of the predominant voices reviving stoic philosophy for modern times. His books include The Obstacle Is the Way, Ego Is the Enemy, The Daily Stoic, Conspiracy and Stillness is the Key which have sold more than 2 million copies in thirty languages and have a following among NFL coaches, world-class athletes, TV personalities, political leaders, and others around the world. He opened The Painted Porch, an independent bookstore, in the middle of the pandemic, and lives with his family on a ranch outside Austin, Texas with cattle, donkeys and goats.

Session Description:

There's a saying, that wisdom can't be told. It is the product of experience, action, reflection, and sharing.

I'd love to try something new, using Holiday''s blog as a jumping off point to tap into our individual and collective wisdom. Format will be discussion and micro-journal writing on our your sources of wisdom & how we absorb it and share it.

  • Of the 34 insights, which resonated with you, and why?
  • What have been your most meaningful are sources of wisdom so far?
  • How do you share the wisdom you’ve accumulated, and with whom?
  • What are the three most important things you wish you could share with your younger self? What age would you have wanted to know this wisdom, and why?
