Description of Book:
Often this book club picks book that are heralded on the left - and we keep saying we need to pick something that sums up the right. Atlas Shrugged, one of the tomes of Ayn Rand, I find, is a more interesting look into Objectivism. Through her characters, Ayn Rand outlines the "uselessness" of big government, the importance of the rational, thinking mind, and the (lack of) value in good intentions. It's a book that will drive many to discomfort, but also to grapple with the basis of your core beliefs, and rethink your positions.
Intent of Session:
I would love some debate.
If we can finish in 90 minutes, we will... but if I am making you read a 1088 page book, the least I can do is to offer 2 hours.....
